Huellitas de Acero is a non-profit sanctuary in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned dogs that have suffered from injury, sickness, abuse, or neglect. Operating as a safe haven for over 130 dogs at any given time, the shelter provides comprehensive medical care, training, and emotional rehabilitation. Their mission extends beyond the shelter walls, working to find loving, permanent homes for their rescues locally and internationally—primarily in the United States and Canada—while educating the local community on compassionate and responsible pet ownership.

Claudia Mamet is the beating heart of Dogs of Puerto Angel, a lone light for the forgotten souls wandering the streets. Every day, she stands on the front lines of a relentless crisis, refusing to look away from the suffering caused by crushing overpopulation. From healing broken bodies and hosting life-saving clinics to the tireless work of fostering and finding forever homes, Claudia pours her entire soul into giving these animals the second chance they so desperately deserve.
